Charles founded Vero Consulting with a trusted team of colleagues in 2016.


He is a respected chartered accountant, forensic accountant, board advisor and expert witness who advises on a broad range of financial issues and disputes, contentious valuations, and financial and other investigations.


He has acted in over 700 cases with a balanced portfolio of claimant and defendant instructions.


He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, holds a M.B.A. and is accredited by the Institute as a forensic accountant. He is also accredited by the Academy of Experts as an expert witness.



Charles has an astute legal mind which is firmly anchored in reality, enabling him to advise his clients on the best and most viable course of action. He is alert to the wider implications, and able to identify unforeseen opportunities. He makes and explains his case lucidly, and is a pleasure to work alongside.

Quantifying compensation payable to businesses affected by compulsory purchase of businesses and related disturbance claims is complex and Charles is one of only a few forensic accountants who can help. The team at Vero Consulting has acted for many claimants and acquiring authorities and has been instructed on claims arising from major infrastructure projects such as the Olympics, Crossrail and Thameslink, as well as numerous town centre and regeneration schemes around the country.

Charles is a recognised authority with reported cases on compensation due under The Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 on termination of an agreement.

The landmark matrimonial case, where the Supreme Court subsequently provided guidance on piercing the corporate veil: Prest v Petrodel Resources Ltd [2013] UKSC 34.

J Toomey Motors Ltd & Anor v Chevrolet UK Limited [2017] EWHC 276

Charles was appointed by General Motors and gave evidence in court.

In June 2019 Charles won Lawyer Monthly’s Expert Witness Awards in two categories: Chartered Accountancy and Fraud Accountancy. These Awards recognise the success that he and he and his team have achieved in these areas of expert evidence since he established this specialist forensic firm in 2016.
